To cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century, we need to develop a dynamic, integrated view of biological systems in health and disease.

At the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging, researchers will collaboratively develop revolutionary new imaging hardware and software tools to build breakthrough multimodal biological imaging systems.

Our goal is to make it possible to view any desired cellular complex, structure, or organelle at the highest resolution and to understand cellular dynamics in living systems in a broader biological context.”

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

We build open source software tools to drive biological insights, fund scientific research to advance biomedicine, and do research that can’t be done in conventional environments.

The CZ Imaging Institute is part of the CZ Biohub Network, a group of nonprofit research institutes created and supported by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Our institutes tackle grand scientific challenges on 10- to 15-year timelines to bring us closer to understanding the mysteries of the cell.

The CZ Imaging Institute will ensure broad access to new technologies through a visiting scientist program and disseminate tools to benefit the entire imaging field.

Our Research

The CZ Imaging Institute produces scientific research to advance our mission to support the science and technology that will make it possible to cure, prevent or manage all diseases by the end of the century. Explore a selection of publications and preprints from across our institutes and grant partners.
